I'm having problems with the debug feature of Free Pascal IDE. Whenever I hit the F7 or F8 for debugging, it shows a dialog box saying "Program generated a signal 11. Save your sources and restart the IDE" [OK] [Cancel]. I tried the Synaptic Package Manager, the .deb file from the official website and also the development version. I meet the above problems with the ones installed using the Synaptic Package Manager and the .deb file from the official website. The IDE in the development version says "No debug support". I'm really fed up with this. Can anyone please help! P.S: Sorry for my bad English! Still need heavy improvement!

http://bugs.freepascal.org/view.php?id=11414 hi it is a bug. on my first run on a debian system a warning message popped up. its a bug that they have knowledge about. i forgot to save the piece of paper i wrote the exact message down on as its a while back i lost it but i cant make anything work right either. as far as debugger is concerned. there seems to be more more than one issue with this. i linked to the one i found back then. hope it helps .
But as it says in the link, it's in Windows not Linux. Isn't Linux a totally different platform, let alone Ubuntu? If this can't be changed, I think I'm forced to change from Ubuntu to another distro. My friend is currently using Fedora 9 and he can get this work without having to do anything. Aside from this issue, I'm faced by many more; in Pidgin, for example, I can't join any chat room with my Yahoo! account. I hope future releases of Ubuntu can get those fixed and I'm looking forward to trying them. But for now, I'm switching to Fedora 9.

Does anybody know something which would solve this problem? I have the same one. I've tried FP IDE from repositories as well as the newest version from official FP website. Both of them didn't work. Thanks for any advices UPDATE: Is it true that in other distros it works without any problem? I am probably not going to change distro, but I want to know if the problem is in ubuntu or where.
