just installed hardy heron

Help please
very new to ubuntu I have just installed hardy heron (Yesterday)I thought I was doing very well while importing images my mouse lost control of the cursor eventually I tried to shut it down or restart but after one restart the keyboard stopped funtioning correctly can anyone help me out of this mess

check whether your mouse and keyboard are correctly plugged in.

thanks for your reply the keyboard and mouse are wireless labtec slimline I unplugged and then put it back but to no avail and even switched usb ports and swapped back again

Did the mouse or keyboard work in older versions of Ubuntu like Gutsy, other Linux distributions or even Windows.
Have you tried plugging in another keyboard and mouse?

Also in the BIOS there is setting for emulating USB keyboards and mice as PS/2 ones. Try that setting. I do not exactly remember the setting.

might be they don't work anymore with the most recent version/kernel.

Thanks I really am a new starter I had used fiesty fawn for a very short while but not with this keyboard the only other keyboard I have is wireless an I did not think that had been working right so I had changed it for the current one some while ago would it be worth trying that?
