Ubuntu for mechanics
I have been thinking of tying in my car with a touch screen interface that could possibly run diagnostics on your car to help remind users to do general maintenance and to inform them of problems. Also this should include a way to play multimedia. I would like to use ubuntu as a base system if this scenario is not yet available. Also a great idea would be to allow for updates to be performed via usb connection (or maybe this system could run from an ipaq for portability).
If anyone knows of any such project please let me know. I am just mostly tired of mechanics/dealers having control of what "needs" to be done to repair your care and taking advantage of people who don't know better. This would give the general public that same freedom we have on our computer systems.
