I want to desperately but I am also horribly broke. Plus I have an AGP motherboard and who makes the only decent AGP cards? ATI!

Rage. You shouldn't have to get new hardware to enjoy basic operating system features. So far I almost have Ubuntu working on par with Windows XP.

    as has mine...

i am forced to use windows at work and can't tell you how much it frustrates me.

the littlest things in the world make the biggest difference. the 'always on top' feature in ubuntu is something that i have taken for granted. for me, it is one of the simplest most useful features found in ubuntu.

Hey man kinda curious as to your setup...

    Mine goes like this....

Primary screen 19" LCD - running compiz with 5 virtual-desktops, in expo mode (cube is gay)
Second LCD 17" on my left is a seperate Xsession that runs Movies 24/7, a 32" tv in my bedroom clones the 17" LCD, to my right is my sons room, he has his own 19" tv which also runs its own xession and plays toon's 24/7...

In total i ALWAYS have running,

    Virtual-Desktop-1 / 4 conkys, gkrellm

Virtual-Desktop-2 / top (terminal system monitor), a terminal window, Pidgin

    Virtual-Desktop-3 / Firefox

    Virtual-Desktop-4 / Evolution

    Virtual-Desktop-5 / LinuxDC++

2 instances of VLC player (read above re-which screens they are on).

With all that going full-tilt, it use's 1.17ghz of my 3ghz duo-core 64bit (6ghz if u want to count both core speeds) 680mb ram..

    What's yours like..

    damn that is intense.

i wish that i could have that kinda organization. i used to do something similar when i was at school, but now that i am at home, my setup is rather vanilla, the only exciting thing being compiz. sometimes i get adventurous and throw up another monitor or something like that if i feel like impressing friends but that is rare.

my major issue is that i am constantly changing what my desktop setup is. one week i will feel like using gnome, and the next i will go back to xfce. it is tough for me to keep any sort of regularity with my desktops and what is running on each.

    Re: Rotating display in Ubuntu

    Hi everybody,

I have the same problem - kubuntu 8.04 does not rotate the screen. I've added
    Option "XRandR" "True"
to my xorg.conf. My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8 Series. But it does not work.

    Is there hope?

    Ulrich

    Code:
    [scholzuh@emld-desktop:Ftp] >more /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    # nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig
    # nvidia-xconfig: version 1.0 (buildd@palmer) Tue Jan 22 12:05:14 UTC 2008
