    A proxy question

Hi all ! I'm not sure if this is the right place for this topic..
If a proxy is used , does it apply to all protocols like TCP ( not only HTTP when surfing on the web ) , or there are specific proxies for different uses?
I'm sorry - the topic isn't for Ubuntu - I had to put it in " all variants "

    Re: A proxy question

The term proxy is only used for application level protocols..

you can have ftp or http proxies, and others

    but not for tcp

google for tunneling (ip through x)
