Super Key (Windows key) occasionally gets "stuck" until logout

I use Gnome Do and Compiz Fusion effects regularly. On 8.04 as well as previous versions of Ubuntu on this laptop (even with a reinstall), I occasionally have the following problem. When I use keyboard combinations requiring the Super (Windows) key, it will get stuck on (not physically), and I can't do anything except use keyboard and mouse shortcuts that use the Super key. I know it's a software problem because a simple logout-login cycle will reset it, and it never happens on Microsoft Windows when I (rarely) dual-boot into it.

I don't have any shortcuts using the Super key as a non-modifier (i.e. used by itself).

Anybody have an idea what's going on?
