Exclamation [SOLVED] I lost sound on my Ubuntu 8.04

All the time i was reinstalling my Ubuntu when i had trouble and then everything went back to normal. I was configuring my microphone and screwing around in options with sounds, after that i heard static or bad sound on my os. So i have reinstalled my Ubuntu and now there is no sound at all

1 How can i enable my sound back again ?
2 Why when you have reinstalled os it still effects of what you have done previously, should it forget everything and just simply install everything nice and clean from beginning ?

    I need fast help please

Try going into terminal, typing 'alsamixer' and make sure the volumes are all up.

Max the PC speakers setting and see if there is any change
