I have the Compaq n800c (yes, the one with the infamous W200 wireless card), and it has the Radeon Mobility 7500, which is blacklisted in Hardy Heron. I, of course, bypassed the blacklist to enable Compiz Fusion.
And it has worked perfectly! All the effects work perfectly and smoothly. And what the guide for bypassing the blacklist warned about - problematic video playback - is nonexistent. I watched DVDs with absolutely no problems, no video playback slowdowns or anything.
So if you have a Radeon Mobility 7500, bypass that blacklist! And don't worry about installing any drivers, the driver that X.org has is perfectly adequate.
And to Ubuntu developers: you guys should consider removing the Radeon Mobility 7500 from the blacklist for Intrepid, as far as I see it, the card doesn't deserve to be put on there.![]()
