ubuntu 8.04 DVD vs. CD

Hi, Would someone be so kind and tell me the difference between the Ubuntu Hardy DVD and the CD?

The Gutsy DVD had a server install and desktop install?

I've installed Hardy with the DVD and see know difference to that of a CD install.

The DVD has extra pakcages, more stuff that you probably won't ever need.
AFAIK.

It may contain other things like DE's etc.

The CD usually contains only one version of Ubuntu (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu) and is either the Desktop CD, the Alternate CD, or the Server CD. The DVD contains the entire Main and Restricted repositories, which means it has Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Edubuntu, allowing you to install any or all four versions without needing an internet connection.

If you don't have an internet connection or a dial up, then you would be better off with the DVD, which would have all the packages you would need to get your system up and running.

So, the DVD has all the flavors of Ubuntu. So hou do I install a server only with the DVD?

Where can I download the DVD in fact? I cannot find it on the Ubuntu download page.

You can find the DVD there. This will also include all the updates up to today.

Because my internet connection takes 1 hour to download 10MiB.

No, ship-it just sends out the cd version. Maybe someone near you can download it, burn it, and then give/send it to you
