I've mentioned this device in two older threads I thought I'd bump, but the iPhone / iPod Touch keeps getting bumped after my posts. So this should suit my purpose of asking about this new Gigabyte M528 that uses the new Ubuntu Mobile UI. Here's a video of a working prototype: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76NviXg_1g4 ... it has the new Intel Atom processor & should be out before the end of the summer!! The bad news is that it'll prolly be around $1,000, but I think I'd actually use this much, much more than a laptop. I could even bring a foldable keyboard to class and such. It's similar to the N810, but it's SOOO much quicker; you can actually run Flash & OpenOffice.org on this new Gigabyte!! AMAZING!!!

I really think that tablets were a flop, because their screens are too large and make for difficult holding/carrying. This new category of Mobile Internet Devices (MID) seems VERY practical to me. If I don't wait for this, I'll prolly end up getting an ultra-portable notebook, or "netbook" (another marketing term for devices that suits it very well), like the MSI Wind or something.

MIDs or Netbooks - Welcome to the future of portable computing!!
