    Shutdown/Reboot problems.

    hey all,

i have a dell inspiron e1505 laptop with 8.04 installed. for some reason that i am unaware of my shutdown/reboot doesn't work properly. when i do either everything closes, but then hangs at just my wallpaper. no activity with my hard drive is going on and its just hanging.

the only way i can do anything is by pressing the power button on my laptop which then continues the process but just shuts down the computer so my "reboot" ends up being a shut down.

    any suggestions?

This won't solve your problem but when your computer seems to hang hold down ALT+Print Screen and press the following keys: R E I S U B

You could try to reboot from the command line and see if that produces any errors which could help in identifying the particular problem.
