[livecd] restricted drivers switch (video card)

    Hello there!

I've successfully created a Persistant LiveUSB. It's incredible! But I have to do a final touch: restricted video drivers:

If I really want to make my LiveUSB compatible everywhere, I have to install restricted drivers for nVidia, nVidia (old), ATi and intel (I think intel drivers are just built-in).

Now, I know about some other distributions which directly install restricted drivers and are able to switch at startup to the right driver (editing xorg.conf I think), before the xserver startup (allways in the 'live' mode).

Is it possible to do something like that? I would really like to play, i.e., to etracer in the live session... or to make gelous my friends with compiz effects in an OS which is in a pen drive

    Thanks

Yes, I would also like to know. Recently I switched from dragging my an old laptop around to just using an 8 GB USB stick. I would love to run Ubuntu from it with Compiz Now I'm portable Firefox, portable VLC and Mplayer and portable open office. It would be nice if the portable Ubuntu could detect the right video drivers at boot Please let us know.

I don't know how well the 3 drivers would play together. I.e. I don't think that the Nvidia & Ati Drivers both installed, would work too well, as it'd mess up your xorg.conf file

    I'm thinking about a pre-xserver script...

    case nVidia (new, old)
    case ATi
    case intel
    case other

I know files are different, so this isn't a problem of combining them on the HD, it's a problem about -> how to create that script?
