change Kmenu (kicker) icon in kde4 8.04 kubuntu

I would like to change the kicker icon (the kmenu button) in KDE4 kubuntu hardy. list below of things that have been tried:

1) put new icon in icons/apps/48x48 folder ( and all the other folders in that same path), and renamed kmenu to kmenu_old.bak and renamed one I wanted to use to kmenu.png.
2) changed the icon in multiple places, and then rebooted, still the same kicker icon.

I have kbfx installed, but that was made for kde3.5, would that work in kde4? Seems like some of the paths have changed, and I would prefer to find and do it natively, instead of through a 3rd party app.

Please advise.

wow lots of responses.I did a locate menu | grep .png > menu.txt and then changed 1-2 more icons that i had not changed, and the kicker/kmenu icon has still not changed. Does anyone have any ideas?
