Boot hangs at "Starting kernel log daemon"

It hangs there for a good five minutes. It's frustrating. Any suggestions anyone? Thanks.

So your boot in general hangs? (i cant boot right now either I'm typing on Live CD)
I'm not a Linux expert or anything but one reason my boot hung in the past is because I had unsupported devices hooked up.. so do you have any devices hooked up that are not supported or enabled on your computer in Linux?
dont know if that will help (doubtful) I'm just trying to give you some kind of answer.. I hope somebody helps you soon.

No, I don't have any unsupported devices attached. I'm running a HP Pavilion dv9205us laptop, 2gb RAM, dual AMD Turion 64-bit processors. It booted up pretty good before I updated kernel. Can't load NVIDIA driver either. It worked before. I tried many forum suggestions with no luck. I know I must have done something wrong but I don't know what it could be.
