The capacity of a DVD is about 4GB... (pwera nalang kung DVD-DL sya, which means dual-layer).
So...[ ] unofficial-ubuntu-DVD-gutsy-i386-main-restricted-universe-multiverse-18-10-2007-1.iso 18-Oct-2007 09:24 4.1G
[ ] unofficial-ubuntu-DVD-gutsy-i386-main-restricted-universe-multiverse-18-10-2007-2.iso 18-Oct-2007 09:46 4.1G
[ ] unofficial-ubuntu-DVD-gutsy-i386-main-restricted-universe-multiverse-18-10-2007-3.iso 18-Oct-2007 10:07 4.1G
[ ] unofficial-ubuntu-DVD-gutsy-i386-main-restricted-universe-multiverse-18-10-2007-4.iso 18-Oct-2007 10:30 4.1G
[ ] unofficial-ubuntu-DVD-gutsy-i386-main-restricted-universe-multiverse-18-10-2007-5.iso 18-Oct-2007 10:44 2.5G
4.1 + 4.1 + 4.1 + 4.1 + 2.5 = 18.9GB lang yung kailangang i-download...
Right?

the idea of a pinoy repo dvd is good but then.....who will maintain the contents of the repo? as we all know there are updates to almost all linux packages almost everyday....so by the time one finishes the dvd a new version is already available.....
Sad to say,and I've learned this the hard way-one of the very basic things REQUIRED for one to use ubuntu is a FAST INTERNET CONNECTION. this was emphasized to me when I complained about it in the forum.
So if you have a fast connection then there is no need for a dvd repo as updating will ony take a few minutes(if not seconds)....

I'm so into this because we've all been talking about how to better market Linux (in general), Ubuntu (in particular), to the Philippine computing scene. Or how we could help out educational institutions who are using / who wish to use Ubuntu. This might be it.
Uhmm.. Kaya each ISO would ultimately measure up to ~8.5 ~9 GB
why not focus instead efforts to a localized version of ubuntu-perhaps "pinoybuntu" or the like?

I'm all for this initiative, however, I'd go against DVD and use plain old CD-Rs or CD-RWs for the following reasons:
1) most of the school's and companies I've been with order workstations with CD-ROM drives, not DVD
2) it'll take days to download, even with a fast internet connection
3) you'll dispose of it after 6mos.
So I'd rather go for CD-RWs and use AptOnCD to create ISOs from cached downloads. Here's the catch though, I need to know exactly what applications one need. I won't, obviously, download all the apps on the repo - that's just crazy.
I actually have a set of ISOs in my possession that contains LAMP/Server, Development, Graphics, Animation, Office, and Multimedia apps. Each set is placed on one CD, this way, I know exactly what CD to apt-cdrom instead of listing them all on sources.list when I only need to install one app.
Also, I don't bother downloading apps I've never heard of, it's a waste of bandwidth and space.

@jeffimperial
One thing I've noticed sa difference namin ni jeffimperial ay: Siya, he intended to include the mostly used programs by Pinoy. Ako naman, I intended to download the whole repo ^_^ But we both have the same common goal "Repository in DVD" ^_^
Am I crazy? No I'm not. Think about the possibility pag na-download ko sila lahat ng nasa repo. This about it, you could install almost anything the open-source world could offer.
Can I do it? As I said, "18-20GB lang sya"... Mas malaki pa yung torrent na: Naruto Anime Series, Heroes Series, The Simpsons TV Series, McGayver TV Series, at ku ano ano pa... (Usually mga 50GB eto... eh paano pa kaya etong 20GB na eto?)
@About sa CD or DVD
Hindi pa kaya ng powers ko i-download yung buong repo at hatiin sila into CD sizes eh... kaya ang gagawin ko maghahanap ako ng mga ibang FTP sites na hinati according to CD sizes...
Rather than speculating stuffs... I'd rather DO stuffs...
I've inserted a screenshot to prove that it is 4.1GB per ISO only...
