Home Development Server is an old dell, rescued when my friend got rid of it. A $40 Hard Drive, and I was back in business.

    Dell Dimension L100R
    192 MB RAM
    40GB HDD
    52X CDROM
    1Ghz Pentium 3
Runs mainly as a LAMP box, with torrentflux for fun.
Ubuntu 6.10 runs like a dream. No GUI installed.

My primary desktop is an everyday machine, home built.
    768 MB RAM
    40GB HDD
    80GB HDD
    52X CDROM
    16X DVD-RW/CD-RW
    AMD Athlon XP 2000+
    1.7 Ghz
    Ubuntu 7.04

My laptop is an Averatec 5500
    768MB RAM
    40GB HDD
    DVD-ROM / CD-RW
    AMD Sempron 2600+
    1.6 Ghz
    Ubuntu 7.04

Everything works 100% with Ubuntu, except for the Card Reader on the laptop, AFAIK a suitable linux driver does not exist.

Used slackware for many years before switching to Ubuntu in 2005

    15gb HD
    nVidia TNT2 32mb video

And surprisingly this beast can play games
(only in linux, windows too slow)

Re: What kind of computer do you use?- Super Thread

Any of the above listed computers perform well with compiz - some of the stuff out there is awesome! I think I need a better video card though to do most of it.

    # VIA P4M800 + VT8237R+ chipset
    # Socket 478
I think the main problem with this board is the integrated S3 Unichrome graphics with IGP
Does that Geforce 7100 perform well?
