Trying to get the built-in Wireless Modem on a Toughbook CF-Y5 to work with 8.04
I read that there is a linux version of the VZAccess Manager for Verizon Wireless cards available. But I don't see any indication of that on Verizon's website.
The wireless card has been previously activated when this computer had Windows on it, and it remains active (it's a company computer, so the bill continues to get paid).
But I'd like to use Hardy Heron on this computer and also the wireless card.
I tried connecting by using GNOME PPP and also "sudo wvdial" (after sudo wvdialconf and editing /etc/wvdial.conf with the phone number, username and password info). But, I may have botched the operation there because I couldn't find any directions for my exact situation.
From what I gather from posts about other wireless cards, I should be using this info:
phone number #777
This is my first post. I've been able to rely on old threads for info previously. But, I'm completely at a loss here. I don't have any idea how these things work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Using a built-in Verizon Wireless card on my Hardy Heron Toughbook would be so cool...
