hotmail doesnt like ubuntu, how to fix?

im sure that if you have hotmail, you have gone thru this before.

when i go in hotmail first of all, it doesnt go straight to my inbox no matter what i do, i have changed the options to have it do this but it does not happen, if i do it in windows hapens right away.

second, the basic version, in ubuntu it will show only the basic version while in windows it shows the entire thing. that means not showing the contacts when typing and having to look for them my self.

    how can i fix this?

i know this is a old topic, but now is when it bothers me.

    thanks for readins and replies

I don't use hotmail, but maybe try the user agent switcher extension for firefox?

There's a firefox extension called user agent switcher. It's prolly all one word though. Anyway, it allows firefox to tell websites that it's another browser, like IE running on Windows XP. I haven't run into any websites that required this in a long time though.

But if other people don't need it, maybe there's something else is wrong. Do you have javascript enabled in your browser?

I would recommend gmail as they have POP support and so can be accessed with evolution or thunderbird. I don't know if things have changed since, but it was the lack of pop support that forced me to switch from hotmail.

I access windows live mail, which is what hotmail is called these days with the browser and with evolution with no problems. It was so on 7.10 and now with 8.04. On the browser, I also use AdBlock with no ill effects. I only use the browser version to check the live mail for any filtered spam. It is Necessary to enable cookies and keep them for live mail if you want to stay logged in. Otherwise you will have to log in each time.

    Good luck.
