Visual effects - turning them on and of resets compiz settings?

I've tried to search for a topic similar to this, but I had no luck, so here I am =)

My problem is that I like to play games, at the same time I like to have a cool looking desktop. I'm also using the AWN bar, and it requires visual effects to be set to "extra".
When I want to play a game I need to set Visual effects to "none" in order to get the game work smoothly.

So heres my problem, when I re-enable the visual effects, the compiz settings is reset, and it pisses me off!

Is there any fix, or workaround for this problem? Is there anything I can do so that I wont need to turn visual effects off in order for the games to not flicker?

Thanks in advance for any answers=)

well I've found a simple workaround, using compiz fusion icon and click "select window manager -> metacity" when i want to play some game.

but still, would be cool to run both compiz and the games at the same time, so if anyone know how, please, tell me =)
