I saw some videos about an insane design using beryl. What is the equivalent to beryl for ubuntu 8.04 and where can I download it ?

it's compiz-fusion and it's installed by default. The advanced settings can be accessed by installing the compiz-config settings manager.

    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
Then you should have a new menu item.

System > Preferences > Advanced Desktop Effects Settings

Play around with it a bit and post here if you have any questions about it.

You need to have at least three desktops to get the cube effec. I recommend four. Right-click on the desktop panel in the bottom right of your screen and click preferences. change columns to 4.

Hey I'm trying to do this too. How many rows should we have? Also: When I selected "desktop cube", I was presented with a message saying something like it needed to disable the desktop wall since the desktop cube does that also or something like that, so I clicked "disable desktop wall". Now I have 4 desktops but I can't even switch between them. All but the one that I'm on are shaded in gray on the icon.

But I still can't see the cube. When I Press ctrl+alt+down it just shows me 3 desktops in 1 screen rather than showing me a nice little cube.
