    firestarter and avast antivirus question please !

    Hello

    I have installed Firestarter and Avast Antivirus for my Ubuntu 8.4. However I not sure that it's will runs in background when I start my Ubuntu or I should turn on every time I start Ubuntu .

    How to make Firestarter and Avast run in startup like windows ???

    sorry for stupid questions, I still very new with Linux

    Ubuntu has a firewall installed by default, it's called IP Tables.
    Firestarter is a GUI configuration tool for IP Tables.
    Unless you need to adjust the settings of the existing firewall, you don't need Firestarter.

    you might just want to use Avast if you are sharing files with a windows pc

    AV is also unnecessary - except if you want to make windows users safe... I however think it's their job do keep their boxes clean...
