Firefox 2 perils !!

Hi

I recently did a clean install of Hardy and removed Firefox 3 to install firefox 2. Now when I run firefox 2 , it says :

"Firefox is already running, Please try ending the process by killing the thread."

When I check the processes running , I see that there is no Firefox processes running.Pls help me here.

This sometimes happens do a restart, if you can't find the process running
