Reinstalling.. /home is ext3 but want to format / as ext4. Good idea?

I'm in the process of reinstalling my system.. my /home is on a ext3 partition and I'm thinking of formatting / as an ext4 partition.

1) Will this cause any issues for Ubuntu?
2) If there are any minor issues, will this be worth the speed increase that ext4 offers? Faster boot is a priority and system files will be located on the ext4 / partition.
3) I'm not gonna bother to convert my /home to ext4.. not really worth the potential for data loss in exchange for a slight performance increase. Most of what I have on /home are just movies and pictures I'm storing that I access once in a blue moon.

1. ext4 is default now so it should be OK
2. If speed is priority, go for ext4! If stability (for example at power failure) is priority, keep ext3!
3. Keep ext3 for /home!
