    my bad. There is a persistence option using the universal installer. I must not have changed the default.

    As someone who does this (on an SD card, actually), I have to highly recommend it.

    Currently have several people in my department running this way - it's great for keeping good backups (just rsync) and for being able to easily swap out machines.

    Not sure why such an old thread was resurrected though - aren't there quite a few sites dedicated to this?

    I made two different videos one is easy and can only be done on certain OS such as Ubuntu
    Linux mint and some other ones.

    But the second video explains how to install any Linux operating system on a usb.
