Desktop Effects - ATI Technologies Inc M52 [Mobility Radeon X1300]

Hi everyone,

I think I messed up

with my configuration trying to install the desktop effects on my own. I tried different things nothing worked, and now I don't know what to change, what to keep and what to replace.

Everything is working fine but I can't use the desktop effects. Anyone wants to help?

Where should I start?

BTW, i am using an ATI Technologies Inc M52 [Mobility Radeon X1300] card.

BTW, I forgot something : I am using Hardy on a Dell Inspiron e1505.

I haven't tried installing them on my own, but i'm having a similar problem, ubuntu tells me desktop effects cannot be enabled. i'm running an inspiron 6000, same graphics card, ati mobility x1300. are desktop effects compatible with this card? i'm just looking for the normal effects.

I had a similar problem, and I needed to install the restricted drivers for the graphics card (same one). The first time I installed ubuntu it asked automatically, and the second I figured it out. Unfortunately I don't remember how though. Hope that helps you a little bit!

There are 3d effects through the ati/radeon driver on the intrepid beta live cd (...but not on the install???).

Could be great to ditch the fglrx driver

I've got at Acer TravelMate 4220 with Ati Mobility X1300 (M52).
