Post installation requirements

Hello everybody After installing Ubuntu 8.04 and finishing up all the updates, I was kind of curious if I need to download anything else. I tried to view a video and had to install flash player. What else do I need or should I download?

once you have videos and flash working you have finished up most of the important closed source packages that arent installed by default. Now it is mostly finding what programs you prefer for certain applications. For most people they already have what they like: Firefox, Pidgin. I recommend replacing evolution with thunderbird though. Also I prefer opera over ff3b5 which has been rather buggy IMHO
