Ooo is all in wingdings!!

Just launched openoffice writer, and the whole program is in wingdings ( I think) My install is using english as default and it is only open office programs that have this problem, uninstalled and reinstalled and have the same issue! Is there somewhere I can specify the language to use or could someone tell me which menu its in with a screen shot so I can try and navigate to it! Does this qualify as a bug that I should report or is this just something that somehow happened because of me?

btw this is in 8.04.

are you using the default fonts that shpped with ubuntu? have you checked for any updates and installed them?
