The music store works which I am happy about. However, it does not recognize my iPod. Has anyone got a solution to this?

Bump
Well, does iTunes need another program as well? Something under the lines of connection with the ipod.
Try downloading ipodmanager.exe into wine well.
I would like to say i do not know if this will work. But maybe it is worth a try...
ipodmanager.exe (iPod Manager) - Details
The ipodmanager.exe program is used to perform administration functions (e.g. formatting) to iPod mp3 players. If you do not use it, or do not have an iPod you can safely terminate the ipodmanager.exe process.
ipodmanager.exe is an application that does NOT appear to be a security risk
The Process Server database currently registers ipodmanager.exe to Apple.
This is part of Apple iPod drivers.

Thats a great idea, I'll try it when I get home.
No luck...
iTunes isn't fully functional in Wine and never has been:

I guess I'll give this a go. I am not worried about much functionality other than the store + tv show downloads. Hopefully that will work..
followed his instructions but it won't start after install, oh well.
No USB devices work under WINE.
how you tried to install virtual box. install windows xp and then inside that install the apple ipod software.
i might work.
i have done this trick in 7.04 to get my usb canon scanner to talk to ubuntu. it was recognised in 7.04 so i installed virtual box and scanned the images in to xp then copied the files out with a swap directory and then accesed the jpeg files and off i went.
no need to bother since 7.10 with this, but it helped me out

If someone asks you to sudo rm -rf anything, don't do it, and don't run any command with rm in it unless you know exactly what you're doing.things i have learnt changing from Xp pro to Ubuntu
