    Soundcard drivers or New?

So I've got a basic creative Audigy soundcard and some Logitech Z5500 speakers. In Linux sound works and its surround sound but its a bit muddy when i log into Windows simply playing an mp3 sounds so much better and crystal clear.
Sooooo my question is if there's better drivers than the alsa drivers for the Audigy card what are they.
If not which soundcard manufacturer produce a decent (price and quality) soundcard with native linux drivers (binary or open source).

Edit: Im also not just after a linux compatible card as you have read mine works in linux but only basic functions and the sound quality isn't nearly as good as windows

Edit2: Gahhhh i just realised the reason why it sounds better on windows is because i have EAX rock setting on.... no chance of that on linux.
Edit3: and cmms2... damn it just keeps getting worse
Edit4: The OSS drivers sound a bit better (heard they got some info out creative about the XFI cards so maybe that helped all cards) lol im just talking to myself here aren't I.
