I know that with the command line: dd if = /dev/cdrom of = /tmp/cdimg1.iso I create an image of a cd/dvd.
But Nobody knows about a program that do this without have that be in the console?

OH MY GOSH!!
I never do anything in the command line, it is against my religion
I always use K3b for burning CDs and DVDs
k3b, gnomebaker, in short any burning software.
Wish I could prove I love you, but does that mean I have to walk on water?
When we are older you'll understand it's enough when I say so, and maybe some things are that simple.
pbpersson, the problem to me is not the the command line... But I'm teatcher and I must give solutions to my students abount the use (and the don't use of terminal).
If I understand what you are saying correctly, you can make an image using that command but you want to know how to use a GUI application to do the same thing? All of the applications listed by amingv can do this, if you are using Ubuntu then brasero is a good choice. Instead of burning to a cd you just have to select burn to image.
try to use Brasero, include in hardy.
Or nautilus CD creator. mkisofs is a great command line tool for creating ISO too.
Only knowledge will set you free.
