Using an HP Movie Writer DC5000

UPDATE: I was hoping someone would know about this hardware and linux so I could continue using it. But as an update, it turns out I had my OSes crossed and it was actually in XP using Nero 7.

I have an HP Movie Writer DC5000 that is an external DVD writer and also a video capture device. I had been trying several Linux distros and with one of them I was able to use this device to capture video. The problem is that I don't remember the program or which distro it was. During testing of distros I tried Ubuntu 7.10, openSUSE 10.3, PCLinuxOS, and Linux Mint 4.0.

Does anyone have this device or know a program that will work with it. I am using Kubuntu 8.04 at the moment. I have searched extensively and found nothing.

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Bill
