    Ubuntu Linux is not hard but, there is, as with all things, a learning curve.

    Linux humor (apt-get moo) then (apt-get)

    Re: want to download movies

    Since we don't condone illegal behavior here in any way, I will assume you're talking about movies that are freely available. And for that, BitTorrent is pretty much the web now, other than occasional things you'll find from IRC bots. ISOhunt is my favorite place to grab my Kubuntu and PC-BSD torrents.
    I do not use Ubuntu any more, nor have I ever used Gnome. Therefore, I tend to give advice that is distro- and DE-agnostic, which, while perhaps not the easiest way, will allow you to move freely between machines.

    Re: want to download movies

    You'll have to have a client first, like Deluge or KTorrent. Beyond that isn't really a matter of Ubuntu, but configuring your router, or using a PnP plugin. You can find bittorrent howtos all over the internet.

    Re: want to download movies

    Click on this link to install Deluge (a torrent-client)
    apt:deluge-torrent

    Then go to Applications => Internet=> Deluge-torrent

    Then go to any torrent site or and download the .torrent file.

    Then drag/drop that file into Deluge

    And it should start downloading

    Ah yes, they updated the forum yesterday, and those things don't exist yet... Alas.
