now it is saying
Code:No package 'pycairo' found Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables PYCAIRO_CFLAGS and PYCAIRO_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details.

I just updated my the driver for my nvidia geforce 7600gs to version 180.06 (beta) and I can report that the problems I had with AWN artifacts are gone. My windows are drawing correctly now as well.
The driver was very easy to install. Just download the driver from here and logout. Ctrl-Alt-F4 into your tty terminal and shut down the x server (code: sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop). Then navigate to the directory where you saved the driver and code "sudo sh (name of file).run" I answered yes to every question and didn't run into any difficulties.

no matter what i do, i can't seem to get rid of a white vertical line coming through the middle of awn; any ideas?
EDIT:
nevermind... i was silly and didn't look around the forums enough; found a post detailing it was an applet not loading.

python-cairo-dev. Note that the AWN wiki has a full list of the needed packages here: http://wiki.awn-project.org/Awn_Extr...endency_Matrix

Is the line always in the same spot? If so you may have a broken applet. Take note of where the line is and then fire up the AWN manager (key Alt-F2 and type awn-manager). Click the Applets icon and try removing the applet that seems to be causing the problem. Close the dock and reopen it and see if the line persists.
If the line is jumping around and you have an NVIDIA graphics card, you'll need to install the beta driver (180.06) from nvidia's site to correct the problem. See this thread for more info or post #503 above.

yeah, already fixed this one... it was an applet not loading, not nvidia.

Hi,
Does anyone know how to run AWN without the AWN Taskmanager applet being visible. If I remove it the whole dock disappears. I still want the tasks visible but not the extra icon.
Any ideas?

The white patches problem has been resolved with the new nvidia drivers.
