In short, Apple has patented the "dock". What does this mean, if anything, for awn development? Should I be worried?

... will my kids be safe?

Thanks for the reply, that puts me much more at ease. I'd hate to see the project taken down over something like that...

Re: HOWTO: functional eye-candy with Avant-Window-Navigator

i got this crazy kinda like error, guessing its either on my side or you have moved the dependency or something

anyway when i try to fetch the file it says a lot of stuff then this

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
avant-window-navigator-bzr: Depends: libawn0-bzr (= 0.3.1.bzr482.1~intrepid) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgnome-desktop-2-7 (>= 1:2.23.90) but it is not installable
Depends: libgtk2.0-0 (>= 2.14.1) but 2.12.9-3ubuntu4 is to be installed
Depends: libpango1.0-0 (>= 1.21.6) but 1.20.5-0ubuntu1 is to be installed
Depends: libpopt0 (>= 1.14) but 1.10-3build1 is to be installed
Depends: libxcb-render-util0 but it is not installable
awn-core-applets-bzr: Depends: libawn0-bzr but it is not going to be installed
awn-manager-bzr: Depends: python-awn-bzr but it is not going to be installed

    any idea what it means?

This is a great app!!! Thanks for the guide!!!

I have a few questions though. How do I increase the size of the dock icons? I can't seem to get the volume control to work, I'm missing "alsaaudio" and it doesn't seem to be in the repo. Any ideas?

    Thanks again,
    Scott

Re: HOWTO: functional eye-candy with Avant-Window-Navigator

I've installed AWN using this tutorial, and I was wondering if there is a way to change the icons of the launchers. It allows me to change the icons of tasks, but no go when I right click the launchers.

Also, I see in the OP the question 'Q: Can I use AWN as just a launcher, not a taskmanager?'

This is probably already known but you can do that by deactivating the Launcher/Taskmanager applet in AWN manager. When you do this AWN closes down but after you launch it again it works fine. The exception being you can't drag and drop stuff from say, GnomePanel, to the dock. You have to add new launchers through the applets window in AWN Manager.

    Thanks!

    Howdy Zachx65,

I just got this setup myself also! One of the things I found is you can drag and drop from /usr/share/applications to AWN Manager->Launchers.

'Q: Can I use AWN as just a launcher, not a taskmanager?'

From what I read a few (dozen) pages back, no you can't use it as just a launcher at this time.

    Hope that helps.

Scratch what I said about launchers. I was mixing up launchers and applets. So I just want to know if changing applet icons is possible.

I just darg and drop them on the dock itself, and them a pop-up asks to confirm or something like that. Just go to /usr/share/pixmaps or /usr/share/gnome to get icons.

Question Re: HOWTO: functional eye-candy with Avant-Window-Navigator

I have a little problem with curved gui:
If I set bar angle to -1 in gconf-editor, the curved gui is visible for a moment, but then the bar angle (and the look of the dock) jumps back at 0, flat.

Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance!

    (Ubuntu 8.04, bzr repo)
