make sure you have ubuntu-updates enabled, that's most often the source of dependency issues.

Question Re: HOWTO: functional eye-candy with Avant-Window-Navigator

    Hi,

I can't get active applets to work. The icons don't show, but running aps are appearing. See attach for more details.

I have done apt-get update and installed all updates.

you appear to be running an older version, please completely remove both repository and source installs according to the guide and FAQ, then reinstall following the guide.

I just reinstalled Hardy. Before I reinstalled when I got an IM (using Pidgin 2.4.1) the person's buddy icon would bounce up and down. After the reinstall, using the same version of AWN, the icons no longer bounce up and down.

I have played with various settings, but I can't seem to find the cause of this behavior. Any tips?

    Thanks.
i have the same problem.. the suggested fix in this thead didnt work for me either.

I don't use pidgin myself but I do know pidgin does need to be properly configured for this... taking a quick look I'm thinking you need to load the "Message Notification" plugin and in the plugin configuration under "Notification Methods" make sure to "set Window manager Urgent hint"

    Just a guess...

I'm trying to get awn curves, but the setting for bar angle won't accept -1. It states that the key is not writable. What should I do?
