As mentioned above you can enclose in quotes, but most Linuxers are too lazy to type all that (although I am in the habit of not using spaces or 'odd' characters in file or directory names anyway). Just type the first bit of the name and hit the TAB button and Linux will happily fill it all in for you, quoting and escaping the special characters as it goes. If nothing happens there might be more than one match, so hitting TAB again will show all matches - marvellous.

I have to admit some times the terminal is the only way to get something done its awesome the whole trick is what to type in there!
This is Linux. It gives you a cute mascot and enough rope to hang yourself!

I am like this thead. When I started Ubuntu, I didn't get the terminal. Then I learned a few things... Then I get a netvertible (netbook/tablet) and I wanted to make the interface for it better...
... about 50 scripts, innumerable config tweaks, one Gentoo and three Arch installs later, "There is no spoon."
Beginner saying thanks, though it seems overdone already.
Terminal does seem a lot more convenient in most cases, than using the long route.
You might want to expand this a little bit, though.
