I hate the #ubuntu IRC channel
every time i go in there, i get people who love to spam the !TOPICHERE | Username stuff. Even if it has NO RELATION at all to what you are talking about, and the end result is me getting frustrated and getting a bunch of links to wikipages and stuff that i have already looked at before i even considered going into the irc channel.
For example here is a wonderful converation i just had trying to fix my flash problems.
Right there. That page has information in installing flash, and troubleshooting for sound problems which symptoms i dont have. Of course this dude just saw the word 'flash' in my question and redirected me to that page rather then trying to understand and help me with my problem<Polygon89> I just reinstalled ubuntu gutsy, and now the audio portion of flash does not work. I get audio in other applications fine, but flash does not seem to work. I tried to install some libflashsupport package and that doesnt work either. Please help.

<ubotu> Polygon89: To install Flash see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Re...dFormats/Flash (for !Dapper and !Edgy, a recent version is available in !backports) - See also !Restricted and !Gnash
of course, another page that has nothing to do with my problem or whats going on. Im not being impatient, im tired of being redirected to pages that IVE ALREADY LOOKED AT! The whole point of me going to the irc channel is that google and the wiki pages cant help me!<Polygon89> User1, please read my question before referring me to a page that has nothing to do with what i asked.

<ubotu> Polygon89: The people here are volunteers, your attitude should reflect that. Answers are not always available. See http://wiki.ubuntu.com/IrcGuidelines
I never said stupid. Anywhere. I was polite as i could be when im really pissed that i keep getting sent away instead of people trying to like understand my problem<Polygon89> User2, again, im telling him nicely to read my question before sending me to a page that has nothing to do with my problem.
<Polygon89> User2, i have flash installed. The wikipage on this problem does not work.
<User2> Polygon89: that does not excuse your rudeness to a volunteer generous enough to offer his or her advice, whether or not you thought it was "stupid" as you called it.
I just logged off after this, it wasn't worth it.<Polygon89> User2, please find the word stupid in this sentance: User1, please read my question before referring me to a page that has nothing to do with what i asked.
<User2> Polygon89: oh, shall we peruse the logs, then?
<User1> !stop | Polygon89
<ubotu> Polygon89: NOTICE - Please stop this discussion NOW. See !offtopic for things that are inappropriate to discuss in this channel. Continuing will result in action being taken.
<Polygon89> i never said stupid
<Polygon89> i want flash to work
<Polygon89> someone help me fix the sound, not help me install flash.
<Polygon89> which is what that page refers to.
I hate the IRC channel. Im pretty much vowing never to go in there again after this incident. The forums are far better.
