Well, command line media players make it possible to run things in scripts, which can be more flexible.

Good point. That's the only way I would possibly use them.

Ncmpc for example does everything it needs to do as a music player, and is extremely lightweight at it.

I'm not one of those "lightweight" freaks. I've got memory, and I don't care if it gets used.
