HAL Status 13

Hi,

Thanks in advance for the assistance. I currently have Vista on my laptop.

Aspire 5520-5912
AMD Turlon 64x2 Mobile Technology
NVIDIA GeForce 7000M
Signal Up Wireless
160GB HD

I don't want Vista. I just don't like it. I really want to get away from Microsoft and go totally to Linux Ubuntu. I created the CD from the iso file and I checked the install CD and no errors. I'm trying to install the 64 bit version 7.10, but I'm getting the HAL Status 13 message. If anyone needs output like using 'dmesg', let me know how to get this for you for troubleshooting and I will.

Hey there Michael-Scott (Micklskot)?

"HAL status 13" seems to be related to wireless cards. Where exactly is the error appearing and what is it preventing you from doing exactly?

Go ahead and give the dmesg and lets see what we get.

When booting the Live CD, hit Alt-F1 to see the messages. Use the scroll-lock key to pause the display so you can note any errors then share them here.

I just noticed this morning that mine says the same upon boot but adds that it cannot attach hardware for the wireless.

I couldn't get my wireless working on this laptop and had to buy an external which works just fine.

I'm thinking this is probably a similar issue? But let us know.
