    December 2007

Was happy with OS/2 however then IBM advised it was to end... so went to MS-W for work, regular problems witth MS-W, when an MS-W upgrade reformatted my hard drive decided was time to try linux... IMHO was one of my best ever decisions.

My long term brain injury provides frustrating challenges, while using Terminal soon educated me how to keep things running, upgraded, installing and uninstalling.

If you do not know what to do, using terminal is best approach to learn

I still use ******* programs under wine like MS Word (sorry, but I still don't feel comfortable with LibreOffice, I will give it another try soon, but last time I used it chocked with a simple 250 page document), TheWord (Bible software), e-Sword (another Bible software... I wish there was a decent Bible application for Linux.), and Photoshop (I wish it was a little less buggy on wine, but it works most of the time for what I use it at home).
Your post is over 10yrs old but i wanted to share how I have installed E-Sword on two computers running Linux Mint. Here are the steps i followed:

    1. See "How to Install Virtualbox 7 on Linux and Create a Windows 11 Virtual Machine" follow video instructions

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf-v...l&index=1&t=3s

Be sure to press “enter” when this shows up to boot from the iso

(might need to do step 6 https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspo...irtualbox.html if windows does not install.)

    2. Shut windows down then do steps 6-11 from

    https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspo...irtualbox.html

( if step 9 does not work, read below)

Quick note: the guest additions is the package that contains all the virtualbox drivers to allow the operating system to work correctly in the virtual environment. (https://pureinfotech.com/install-windows-11-virtualbox )

You can experience true 3d acceleration, screen size selection, and many of the other great benefits that come with using virtualbox guest additions, like shared clipboards and file sharing from host to guest and back.

    3. Add shared folders, clipboard, drag and drop

    Enable “bidirectional”

Switched to Linux 100% about 15 years ago. No regrets, never looked back. MacOS just doesn't cut it and not even worth mentioning W.

When there was no accounting software I used a hosted service, for 3D modelling I found ways. I'm a senior engineer and in mho there's nothing better. This is the way.

I did already some years ago. My knowledge of Ubuntu is shallow but just enough to use it on a daily basis as the only system to do all my work at home.
I have still a copy of windows that I can use as secundary system just for a game that I like to play and in order to be able to use an old version of Photoshop .

I'm in the process of completely switching. I've been in & out of Linux for more than ten years, but after being forced to use Windows 11 last year, and what MS is now doing to their users, and what Win12 is going to be... I'm done. It's Ubuntu for me all the way. I expect to have everything completely switched over by the end of the week.

BTW, I'm seriously liking the Ubuntu experience so far. I shouldn't have waited so long.
