Linux kinda makes me happy. I find MS winDOS kind of insulting.
I switched over after Vista and haven't had to look back.
Linux isn't perfect either, but it's more stylish to me.
I like customizing my computer(s) for fun.
I used to do a lot of distro hopping.

Actually I might buy a second computer in few days and put yet another Linux on it for fun.

On the way, but not quite yet.
    Very new to Ubuntu.

I have Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.04 on my regular machine, and all is OK.
On an old B85M-G machine I have the standard Ubuntu 24.04, and all is OK.

Bit by bit I will install a few of them, just to take a look see.

    Mightily impressed.

Goodbye Microsoft, you will not be missed !

This W10/W11 security thing is an insult to the mind.
It's just a Global Cash Grab.

Just use a eSATA dock/duplicator, and play till your hearts content.

Not completely, but I’m here today exploring Linux! It will be a great learning experience.

I'm a gamer also... I'd prefer to be interactive with my entertainment rather than just sitting to watch; not surprisingly, I have a similar predilection for relationships with women...

I find that while not everything I'd like to play on a Linux system is supported, a larger-than-expected number of games do run on Linux (with a degree of encouragement).

You might like to look into the following for that purpose. Several of these are still on my "List of things to do":

[x] Valve / Steam Proton emulation (works rather well for the games supported so far)
[x] Bottles to run Windows emulation on Linux (flatpak.com)
    [ ] Heroic Games Launcher (non-Steam Games)
    [ ] Lutris (non-Steam games)
    [ ] Protondb.com rates non-Win games
[ ] Goverlay - system resources displayed over game window
[ ] Kenshi game - independent developer (system?)

    Recap from another discussion:
I tried a dual boot system last go-round with Ubuntu and Windows and ended up not being able to access my Ubuntu boot drive; a problem I neither had the experience nor time to address in 2021. At this turn, thoroughly disgusted with Windows, I've dumped it altogether and am running Ubuntu/Linux exclusively. (What joy it is to be able to say that; never going back.)...

By comparison, Windows was taking several minutes to boot and let me into my computer interface, as well as constantly running items in the background calling upon system resources. Ubuntu/Linux boots in a matter of seconds by comparison. It takes me longer to type in my password than it takes Ubuntu to boot. Using "Mission Center" to monitor the system, I'm very pleased with how light the OS is running and using system resources. I'm amazed... ten-year old hardware running like brand new.

    regards,

I did...about 6 months ago. Last program to go is a custom-written java app, but I don't have the source for it (it's for my diabetes) so I can't recompile for it for Linux. Still use my old Win10 laptop with for it. Otherwise I use it for everything else. Music Streaming Email ...
