Maybe you and Darrena can coordinate this....you
can develop and Darrena runs the testing ?

Darrenas packages runs just fine for me on Intrepid...
Well, he should have pinged me .

Yeah, the code is not yet ready for intrepid. Thus, the PPA I just announced currently contain hardy packages only. Of course, intrepid will follow soon.

Re: Network Manager 0.7 Preliminary Testing

erf ... yes, i upgraded to expreimental, forgot this, sorry.
in your new snapshot-package is missing one file (if i am correct) - libnm-util.so.1
    because:
    lizard@lizard-laptop:~$ nm-tool
/usr/bin/.libs/lt-nm-tool: error while loading shared libraries: libnm-util.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    and one new bug:
in connection-manager > mobile broadband it is not possible to store pin/puc/password anymore ... no error, they just not saved

Re: Network Manager 0.7 Preliminary Testing

    Hi!

I have tested the new packages of NM 0.7 from PPA and I have bad news. After having rebooted my computer, nothing was working... My wired network was unable to start with NetworkManager (but worked perfectly using ifconfig and dhcp), and NM was not able to show the list of wired networks. The wifi LED of my computer was off. A ifconfig eth1 up was able to turn the light on but NM was still unable to show a list of wireless networks.

Here is the result of lshw -class network:

    Code:
      *-network
           description: Network controller

After sudo ifconfig eth1 up, the wireless interface is not disabled:

that is strange ... here everything is working fine, well the missing lib-file, the password/pin problem for wwan and some wireless issues which are no 0.7 problem (iwl4965 card)

Re: Network Manager 0.7 Preliminary Testing

I uploaded a new trunk snapshot to http://launchpad.net/~network-manager/+archive ... builds are available for intrepid and hardy.

To install add the archive to your sources.list and run a full upgrade.

Let me know how it works for you. If you provide negative or positive feedback please give me your chipset/driver (for wifi and wired) and your modem model (for 3g).

on hardy libpcslite is too old, so the install fails. please adapt your build-depends.

Re: Network Manager 0.7 Preliminary Testing

    asac,

Thanks for building these packages. I tested them on intrepid and for the most part they're working great. The one thing I've noticed so far is that nm-tool does not work. I get these errors:

/usr/bin/nm-tool: line 117: cd: /build/buildd/network-manager-0.7~~svn20080720t224551+eni1/test: No such file or directory
cc: nm-tool.o: No such file or directory
cc: ../libnm-glib/.libs/libnm_glib.so: No such file or directory
cc: /build/buildd/network-manager-0.7~~svn20080720t224551+eni1/libnm-util/.libs/libnm-util.so: No such file or directory
cc: ../libnm-util/.libs/libnm-util.so: No such file or directory

This is not a big problem for me, but I thought I'd mention it. Again, thanks for the packages.
