I downloaded kubuntu desktop so I have the best of both worlds but evolution can freeze up on me when I close fast and try to do something else. The mouse, keyboard, everything. I have to shut down and restart. Anyone else with similar problem? Thanks in advanced.

Why did you download 6.06? The latest is 7.10. You'll have much better luck with that.

Try installing in safe mode, but 7.10 is better, and a lot of good config-related things are in that release, especially networking stuff.
