Question Chess engines with strength setting?

Are there any free Linux chess engines/programs that allow the player to configure the computer's playing strength? I know that Shredder 11 for Linux does have that option (starting at 1000 ELO), but I wondered if there are any open source alternatives.

    Thanks!

In Pychess you can select different chessengines to play against, and the default chess engine has three strength levels.

Re: Chess engines with strength setting?

    Thanks guys.

Most of the chess engines do seem to have difficulty settings, but the ratings are hard to express in ELO. It is usually "easy", "medium" and "hard". which isn't specific or "standardized". I just bought a copy of Shredder 11 for Linux (was only $50, though the site says 50), and its difficulty slider is ELO-based, starting at 850. This is pretty much what I had looked for.
