Re: Call of duty 4 3D/OpenGL issue

    Just grab th ptch somewhere
In AppDB, you can find my testing, before these bugs became real and:

The old patch, In the Information camp.
The new patch, in 2 posts right below the information camp, one is mine and other is from its creator.

to patch, download wine's source code and extract it

    Code:
    wget wine-0.9.60.tar.bz2
    tar xjfv wine-0.9.60.tar.bz2
    cd wine-0.9.60
    patch -p1 < patch-new.patch
(IF YOU ARE IN 64-BIT, READ THIS)
    ./configure
    make dep && make
    sudo make install
    and here you go =D

Re: Call of duty 4 3D/OpenGL issue

This is going to sound absolutely absurd...but I am a linux noob and I just cannot get this to work after going through all the steps on the thread.

I try to run Cod4 and I get the same error:
    Code:
    "----- Initializing Renderer ----
    ----- Client Initialization Complete -----
Attempting 44 kHz 16 bit [Windows default] sound
ERROR: Couldn't initialize digital driver: DirectSoundCreate() failed in get_system_speaker_configuration()

    Error during initialization:
    Miles sound system initialization failed.
Make sure you have your sound card's latest drivers and DirectX installed."

I've installed the DirectX .dll's....but I still have no clue why this is not working....I am using an ATI Radeon x1700....Hardy AMD64bit

I got it once, but it fixed I don't know how

    I'm giving up
No matter what I do, it won't run...

And other strange thing happened today

If I try to run the command in the launcher, I get an error..

    the command is

    env WINEPREFIX="/home/andrebrait/.cod4" wine "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3sp.exe"

and I get, if not launching it from the launcher

    A Window that says

    WIN_IMPROPER_QUIT_BODY
    YES - NO - CANCEL

and The Game's console open and show me this: (Attachment)

Re: Call of duty 4 3D/OpenGL issue

Ok, tested the flollowing combinations now

    Wine 0.9.60 + Old 3DMark Pacth
    Wine 0.9.60 + New 3DMark Patch
    Wine 0.9.60 + Old 3DMark Patch + Rico Patch
    Wine 0.9.60 + New 3DMark Patch + Rico Patch

With All of them, I had to use FBO rendering.
But it would result in square lightning ¬¬"
And, with Backbuffer, see for yourself
The light RUN AWAY FROM ME!!!

THIS IS THE MOST WEIRD BUG IN WINE I'VE EVER SEEN!!

    I took 3 screenshots
In 2 of them, the first and second ondes, you can see the light running away from me, and in the 3rd, the "square" illumination ¬¬"

Re: Call of duty 4 3D/OpenGL issue

    Forgot the screenshots
As you can notice, in the second screenshot, the light in in the truck, and in the first, the light is in the van

It simply ran away from me when I walked in its direction

Re: Call of duty 4 3D/OpenGL issue

poor you andrebait, that still looks pretty funny though (the light running away from you) my only suggestion is to try turning off ALL the special effects, then see if that works, then turn the ones that you know work 1 at a time so you know which ones screw up the gameplay.
    now for my problem:
I updated to the 1.4 patch, and STILL cant run multiplayer, any ideas?

Re: Call of duty 4 3D/OpenGL issue

Hey can someone else try running the game in Wine 0.9.61?
I'm getting insane graphical glitches in this version (never had them in the previous versions) and I'm wondering if anyone else is having them as well.

    Do you need 0.9.61?
