    Re: Call of duty 4 3D/OpenGL issue

    I tried doing your guide ahalasam, everything went well until:
    Code:
    ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --enable-opengl --with-x
    I get the same error when I config using your guide something like ¨error no opengl support found on this system, opengl and direct3d will not be enabled¨ which is the same error I get when I try everything. Any suggestions?

    and on a side note, now when I try to even run the command again I get this: bash: ./configure: No such file or directory

    Thumbs down Re: Call of duty 4 3D/OpenGL issue

    Can you confirm the following links exist:

    Code:
    ln -s /usr/lib32/libGL.so.1 `pwd`/lib32/libGL.so
    ln -s /usr/lib32/libGLU.so.1 `pwd`/lib32/libGLU.so
    I went to have a proper look at the other guide but it's not accessible atm. If this doesn't help I'll have a go myself on Hardy64.

    On a side note & as a heads-up, the latest Wine release requires a different patch. I'll test 0.9.60 & update the guide if there's any improvement.

    0.9.60 compiles fine with Ben P's 3dmark patch on 64-bit Hardy:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get build-dep wine
    mkdir wine && cd wine
    wget http://easynews.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/wine/wine-0.9.60.tar.bz2
    tar -xvjf wine-0.9.60.tar.bz2 && cd wine-0.9.60
    wget http://www.bennyp.org/wine/wine-0.9.59-3dmark.patch
    patch -p1 < wine-0.9.59-3dmark.patch
    mkdir -p `pwd`/lib32
    ln -s /usr/lib32/libX11.so.6 `pwd`/lib32/libX11.so

    Re: Call of duty 4 3D/OpenGL issue

    well, wine 9.60 wine git works in cod4 singleplayer noe on 64 bit 8.04 with the old patch yay!! thanksyou all for your help, but I have no idea how I got it to work, I think I had to install some extra opengl stuff, but its all fine now, except when I try and run multiplayer it just crashes on startup, any suggestions? But that new guide looks good, basically what I had to do on that other guide except I made a script (check that other guide) but I will just stick to what I´ve got now unless I dont get multiplayer to work.

    SP & MP work fine here with the 1.4 cod patch. It's not as fast as with Wine 0.9.50 under Arch 64 though.

    If referring to my previous guide for installation/setup, you can now skip the d3dx9_34.dll, it's no longer required. As always, issue 'wineprefixcreate' after a Wine upgrade.

    Re: Call of duty 4 3D/OpenGL issue

    Sorry andrebait, I am not sure what to suggest, did you turn off the special graphics features (soften smoke edges etc, go to page 2 for more info)
    anyway, thanks ahalasam for that guide, you have been thanked and thanks ben.p for the patch, singleplayer plays and runs fine, but still, multiplayer crashes at startup and does not respond, any ideas?

    EDIT: sorry ahalasam didnt see your last post, I will try the 1.4 patch later (when my download rate restarts

    Weird. As long as directx didn't attempt installation & you have no MS .dll's you shouldn't see this. Can you confirm these points?

    If you've upgraded from a previous Wine version run wineprefixcreate. If directx attempted installation rm -r ~/.wine prior to wineprefixcreate. Any MS .dll's can be safely removed.
