    Re: Ubuntu Buddhist Editon

Maybe you could incorporate Conky, showing texts and koans and maybe symbols which could change at regular intervals.

Also, maybe some kind of Zen Garden feature, like this one:

    http://zengarden.sourceforge.net/

Also a browser start page with good links and bookmarks.

    Re: Ubuntu Buddhist Editon

Do you know where I can download Conky? I'm wrestling with the Wikipedia moderators, but got a permanent fix here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jasballz

I'm downloading a ton of Ebooks, Mp3s and Sutras, my favs, Shunryu Suzuki Thich Nhat Hanh, Jack Keroac, Alan Watts, for incorporation. I'm going to use Personalbrain for easy user interface/access. Also want to know how I can incorporate complearn and freemind into the OS for an User Adaptive Experience, considering thats my/our 'selling point'

I find this whole thread hilarious and silly. What's next, an Islam version called Muslimtu?

    Re: Ubuntu Buddhist Editon

this would be pretty cool. maybe instead of having "welcome" on the login screen, just replace that with a different quote each time(im not sure if this is possible). i love the idea of having music playing for meditation and a candle or something peaceful to have in the background. that would be awesome. and maybe you could make it scheduled too. i dont know how to program or anything, but if you ever need anyone to test anything drop me a line!

It's in the Ubuntu repos. There's a walkthrough on how to set it up and use it here:

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6365702

Some Conkys use the Fortune app, so it displays a different Fortune every few minutes. You could easily change that to a file containing a bunch of Buddhist sayings.
