Question [SOLVED] Wine: How to Run a Fullscreen Desktop? or Disable GNOME Pannels?

    Hey Ubuntu Forums!

I've searched plenty of Wine DB and Ubuntu Forum posts and still couldn't figure out how to make Rome: Total War playable (screen-size wise). It runs better than in XP, but I can't find a way to get it into fullscreen.

If I run it WITHOUT a virtual desktop, the keyboard and mouse focus is to the terminal.

If I run it WITH a virtual desktop, the screen is windowed and the bottom few pixels are cut off.

    ...

So is there a way to make RTW run:

    1. Without using a virtual desktop and keeping the keyboard & mouse focus on the game

    2. With a virtual desktop in fullscreen

    3. With a virtual desktop with a way to hide the GNOME Pannels

    4. With whatever any of you can think of

    ...

    Ubuntu 7.10 Wine 0.9.49
    ...

Thanks in advance and have a happy Thanksgiving (dinner)!

I want the fullscreen functionality so that the whole game will be visible without title bars or panels showing.

    1. Disable Desktop Effects
    2. Run winecfg and disable the virtual desktop, enable "grab mouse" and enable "window manager manages windows"

This helped for some of my games.

Not perfect solution but I set the panel's to have hide buttons and jut hide the panels before play.
