transferring a domain name...how long to wait?

I just unlocked a .com domain name and I want to transfer it. I tried to from the other host but the domain is still listed as unavailable. Is there some time that it generally takes for the availability to become world wide on the web?

It usually takes 24-72 hours before you can do anything with your new domain name.

Actually, the unlock and transfer can take up to 14 days. You locked your domain to protect it from unauthorized transfer, now there is a waiting period for your protection.

Once it is released, you can immediately transfer it....another wait here before all DNS servers across the internet are notified of the changes....

Call your ORIGINAL domain provider and ask them exactly when the transfer will happen.
