So far so good, any errors have been my own fault

Hard to say... 7.04 was good, but didnt fly with my laptop too well such as touchpad issues. 7.10 works with my laptop great, but Synaptic and other packet managers dont seem to be working for me.

Everything perfect here. My SD card reader works with 7.10, it never worked with 7.04.
Sick of cd'ing to a folder? sudo apt-get install nautilus-open-terminal Log out then back in. Right click in the folder, select Open in terminal
Need to compile something? sudo apt-get install build-essential

Well lately, the servers are really taking a beating. A simple apt-get update is taking much longer than usual. Give it another week or so, because with all the upgrades/installations/downloads, many people are having this problem.

My experience with Ubuntu has been great, as the only complaint I have is that once it goes into suspend/hibernate mode, it does not wake up, although I've read it's been fixed in the new Kernel. I'm glad I started off with Ubuntu rather than something easier like Mandriva or PCLOS (I don't remember if the latter was available when I installed Ubuntu), as it still gave me a chance to correct the few problems that I did have on my own via the command line and editing files. When I move on, at least I won't be completely in the dark.

Very good. The only problem I've ever had is that on my other computer (# 2 in sig) has the highest resolution available as 1024x768, but I can barely read when it's on the highest setting 1280x1024, so I pretty much just keep it on that anyway

It was great, though I now use Gentoo... I used Ubuntu up to a month or two ago and it worked fine.

My experience has been excellent with Ubuntu. I started using it on and off with Dapper, but once Feisty was released it had become my full-time operating system. It was my first foray into GNU/Linux. Now I'm using Gutsy and things are getting even better.
